I was not able to sleep on my back in my old bed because my lower back would start to scream. On this bed, I can sleep for hours on my back before I start to feel any discomfort. I am most comfortable on my side, which might be due to this bed being slightly firm. You definitely sink into it, but I think my lower back doesn't sink in quite far enough as I'd like it to. This bed had a VERY slight odor to it when I unrolled it, but once I put sheets on the bed I couldn't smell it at all. You will definitely need 2 people to navigate this up a stairwell as it is quite heavy and cumbersome. But 2 average sized/strengthed women can do it. This bed was ready to sleep on almost immediately. In fact, I only waited about 30 minutes! I've had it about a month now and I'm very happy.
